Description:
Hello, Welcome back to Ducumon.com, and I’m Pokemoner. We will play Pokemon Kanto Redux by SchrodingerFu! It’s an NDS Hack ROM and based on Pokemon Heart Gold.

The new story is beginning. You start in Lavender Town and you can catch pokemon up to Gen 4 with Nuzlocke and balanced experience around the Kanto Region. It’s playable and completed in English!

Welcome to Pokemon Kanto Redux, a small HeartGold romhack that
aims to make a new, exciting, and balanced experience around
the Kanto region. Almost all TMs can be found and used, and
and all trainers have new sets of Pokemon and Gym Leader-level
AI for added challenge. You start in Lavender Town, and
Kanto is aflush with 4 generations worth of Pokemon all across
the region.
This hack is intended to be balanced around a hardcore Nuzlocke
(can only catch the first encounter in each area excluding gift
encounters, no items in battle, no levelling past the next Gym
Leader, and release a Pokemon if they faint), so here I will
provide spoiler-free information for prospective Nuzlockers.
Included with this document is a full encounter list for each
area, so the player can plan encounters more easily.

Version 1.3 is intended to be the final version, and I won’t be
doing any more refining unless major bugs crop up. If you

I honestly don’t know if this is reasonably possible to complete in a hardcore nuzlocke.
If you want to go for it, feel free, but no promises.

FAQ:
–All the Trainer text is messed up!
I would rewrite them if I could, but for the life of me I couldn’t
find the text file that stores all of them. I don’t like it
either, but we’ll both have to live with it.

–The Fly menu is stuck on Johto!
Yeah, I know. I wish I knew how to fix it, but I don’t.
I spent roughly a month messing with a few hacking tools to
make this game, and HeartGold has given me more headache than
it’s worth. If you know how to fix this one, please let me know.

–This fight is too hard!
Well, too bad. It wouldn’t be a hardcore Nuzlocke if it wasn’t
hard. I played it myself before release, and I know that
everything can be beaten if you plan correctly.
The only exception is the final boss. I do not know if that fight
is reasonably possible to beat. If you manage it, you are a
pretty cool dude.

–The Headbutt encounters aren’t changed!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a working tool that allowed me to
easily change Headbutt encounters. The Super Rod (from a guy in
Fuchsia City) is there to replace Headbutt encounters. For the
purposes of a Nuzlocke, please do not use Headbutt for encounters
if you can help it.

–The water in Celadon City has the same encounter table!
For reasons beyond my knowledge, I couldn’t edit the encounters
in Celadon. For hardcore Nuzlocke purposes, I ask that you
skip over this area for encounters.

–Grinding takes too long!
Yeah, welcome to Gen 4. I was thinking of increasing base EXP
gains from all wild Pokemon, but I don’t want to waste anyone’s
time. If you really hate grinding, check the Wii in your
bedroom a few times. You’ll have to grind for EVs yourself,
though.

–I found a bug not listed!/I have some feedback!
Let me know via reddit (u/schrodingerfu) or Discord (Alex#9726).
All feedback is appreciated.

CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.0:
-Most trainers have better IVs (100/255 u0). Previously, only
Ace Trainers and the like had better IVs.
-The SS Aqua is no longer accessible, as intended.
-The Coin Game rewards are closed off in Celadon City.
-The bridge on Route 24 is blocked until Sabrina is beaten.
-The Move Deleter/Reminder house is now available in Viridian
City. Also, the Move Reminder no longer charges Heart Scales.
-Moved a few encounters around for game variety
-Mt. Silver encounters have been moved around.
As a result, all Pokemon are now available before Mt. Silver,
and the Mt. Silver area contains a collection of powerful
Nuzlocke encounters to prep for the final boss.

CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.2:
-The Fly menu now works properly, and is panned over Kanto instead
of Johto.
-The encounter table has been changed a bit, so more exciting
Pokemon can be found even near the start of the game.
-Number of berries found in various Pokemon centers increased
from 5 to 50. I would have liked to make a more diegetic
solution, such as selling berries in shops, but that is
beyond my capability.

CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.3:
-The encounter table was not as linear as I thought, so encounters
were occurring at unusual rates. Encounters are now more
equalized. In order to do so, many encounters have been reworked
and moved around. Refer to the attached spreadsheet for details.
-The final battle on Mt. Silver has been toned down a bit.

CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.4:
Cleaned up the encounter table, so your runs should be more varied than before. Also changed the final battle to be a bit less impossible.

This game is an RPGXP Game. It’s Completed in English!
