Hello, Welcome back to Ducumon Website and I’m Pokemoner. We will play Pokemon Ascent by Tearisten! It’s a GBA Hack ROM and based on Pokemon Emerald.

You’re a trainer who can choose 3 starters up to Gen 8, build your team, and have battle in the Battle Frontier with nuzlocke and hard mode in-game… It’s still alpha in English. And now, Let’s play!

Ascent is a combat focused rush of trainer battles with roguelike inspired progression. The gameplay loop lacks the adventure side of the normal pokemon experience, in favor of refined competitive battles. You start at the bottom of the tower with three starter pokemon and progressively make your way from floor to floor, earning currency to upgrade pokemon and items. Each floor has a variety of quality of life features to get your team ready for the next gauntlet without the regular headache of grinding. See if you have what it takes to ascend to the top!

FEATURES
Every floor has unique battles which must be completed in sequence to progress
Losing resets the floor battles. The flow is: prep->complete all battles without a pause->progress to next floor
Alternating single/double battle floors
Rotating trainer teams. Trainers have additional pokemon and may switch them out randomly between attempts. Operates on a slot by slot basis.
All pokemon up to gen 8
Mostly upto gen 7/8 battle mechanics, items, moves, abilities, with some adjustments and additions.
3 different currency rewards at the end of each floor.
The same shops on every floor.
Battle points: Pokemon shop, convert to a shiny shop
Money: Held items shop, TM shop
Heartscales: Move relearner shop. Egg moves will be added to learnsets as needed to keep things tidy.
Free: Nature adjuster, ev adjuster, ev reseter
Choose one starter of every type.
A built in nuzlocke mode. Receive a gift on every floor from that floor’s new pokemon. Pokemon automatically removed when fainted. You will lose their held item.
3 difficulty settings which adjust ev/iv amounts for trainers.
No bag use in battle.
No money loss on lost battle.
Forced set mode.
Held items restored between battles.
All of the player’s pokemon have perfect IVs and always start with ability 1.
No exp. All pokemon are level 50.
Room battle hints. Talk to the trainers on each floor for a small amount of information regarding their strategy.

~20 custom abilities, some may not be on any available pokes yet though.

Poison now reduces Sp. Attack
A few new natures with either multiple boosts or double boosts
Hail boosts ice defence by 1.5x
Reduced button prompts for cleaner battles and menus. No more spam clicking a in battle.

NEW ABILITIES
Holy Aura: Heals you and your partner by 10% at end of turn
Bull rush / Obsession: The speed/sp att versions of gorilla tactics
Intrepid Wand / Dauntless Crown
Trick room and tailwind set on switch abilities
Hazard Crew: A hazard version of screen cleaner
Inversity: Flips this pokemon’s type weakness chart
Clutch: Overgrow/blaze/etc… but for all types
Vampire: Fang moves heal user
Water lily: A rain version of flower gift
Oppression: A sp att version of intimidate
Killing spree: No cooldown on recharge moves if KO

NEW ITEMS
Hourglass: Flips the targets defences when attacking
Triforce: Boosts all stats by 1.1x
Heavy bands: Deal .5x damage above 1/3rd hp but 2.0x below 1/3rd
Item to boost trick room / tailwind timer by 1 turn
A stronger leftovers item
Plate mail: Boost defence by 1.5x but lower speed by .5x

NEW NATURES
Demon: +20% speed for -10% in all other stats
Pacifist: +10% def and sdef for -10% in att and sp att
Rager: +10% in att and sp att for +10% def and sdef

PLANNED FEATURES
A varied number of trainers per floor. Currently all floors in area 1 only have 2 trainers, except the area boss. This is to allow for fast early game progress. The backbone for this feature is already in place
Type changes to match Drayano and other recent rom hacks, with a few of my own.
Very few stat changes (Ledian for sure). I think too many of these is difficult to remember and throws off the ability to play by feel.
6 total areas for 30 total floors. Currently at 1 area with 5 total floors
Pokeball swaper npc
A custom tileset
A custom battle UI
Custom shiny palettes. I already did some palettes they but aren’t available to player yet: Scizor, gengar, jolteon, espeon, mewtwo, dragonite, ttar, garchomp, forestress, slowbro, salamence, hydreigon
Evolution items for all pokemon since there is no exp. This should encourage proper resource management
Additional weather changes (more buffs to hail and sand)
Tons of moveset adjustments and ability/item balancing.
