Hello, Welcome back to Ducumon.com, and I’m Pokemoner. We will play Pokemon Fire Red Redux Open World by Petuh 2.0! It’s a GBA Hack ROM and based on Pokemon Fire Red. You can have Pidgey Fly’s key item to fly everywhere around Kanto. The level of wild pokemon and trainers will fit and balance with your pokemon. The only pokemon not affected by this are Elite Four and Champion. It’s Demo and playable when I made this video. And now, Let’s play!
Hello! You might remember me from a few years ago back when I was working on Darkness Falls (now deceased) or Emerald Battle Tower Redux. Well today, I bring back the third hack from the trilogy of deceased hacks I’ve worked on the past few years called FireRed Redux: Open World! This hack was an experiment in “how can I make FireRed drastically different with the least amount of code possible?”. Enter open worldiness. What this hack does is takes the levels and determines them based on badge count rather than a set number. This goes for trainers and wild Pokemon. The only Pokemon not affected by this are Elite Four/Champion Pokemon. I wanted that to be the same. Pokemon that are usually at level 25 when you obtain them, such as Lapras and the Hitmons, are now level 5. The Snorlaxes are still level 30. Catch them at your own risk/reward.
You get the Pidgey Fly from the Potion guy on Route 1. You can Fly anywhere, immediately, and HMs are no longer badge-locked. Version exclusives are in some of their original locations. I don’t remember where right now, but you could search for them. Trade and friendship evolutions have been changed, mostly to level evolutions. This means National Dex is unlocked at the start. A few Pokémon have gotten a secret useful move in their level up learnsets. I’ll leave it to you to discover what those are. Eevee has been replaced with Ditto because early game Vaporeon was too easy; also, the legendary birds Zapdos and Articuno have been removed. A certain dragon master now has them. Last, speaking of trainer buffs, the Elite Four/Champion have been buffed. Oh, and rare candies are now $10000 dollars at the Indigo Plateau. Save up; you’ll need them. No, Pokémon do not evolve/devolve depending on level! That will be in the beta, but that’s something that’s needlessly complicated for this purpose.
Parting thoughts: I hope you enjoy this because it’s like FireRed but it’s a whole new experience, yet it only literally took me a few hours to code.
